The Oakmont-Overlook Marching Spartans offer two winter ensembles for the development of technique and precision. Each of these ensembles are open to students currently in grades 7-12.

Goals for Winter Ensembles 2018 – 2019

  1. Work hard, learn, grow, and have fun
  2. Develop better techniques in Percussion/Guard
  3. Recruit and encourage more participants

Oakmont Winter Percussion 2018.

Winter Percussion

The Winter Percussion ensemble is open to current percussion students, and any student that wants to learn how to play a percussive instrument.

This ensemble utilizes our marching percussion instruments (snares, quints, bass drums), and our front ensemble instruments (marimba, xylophone, vibraphones, auxiliary percussion, synthesizers, etc.).

The staff will work closely with new students to introduce proper playing and marching technique, and continue to develop technique with current percussionists.

The ensemble will perform a 5-7 minute show that combines playing and marching.

Oakmont Winter Guard 2018.

Winter Color Guard

The Winter Color Guard ensemble is open to current guard members, and any students that want to learn how to dance and spin. This ensemble utilizes silks, weapons (rifles, sabers), and dance.

The guard staff will begin with basic dance technique, and continue to develop dance/spinning throughout the season.

The ensemble will perform a 5-7 minute show that combines dance, character work, and spinning.
