The first competition is always very exciting for everyone. We have the chance to showcase to everyone our design and technique.
The show is complete (almost). We have learned all the drill, most of the music, guard work, character work, etc.
As said in rehearsal, we are working to remove the metronome from all movements. We are soon getting to the time to CLEAN, CLEAN, CLEAN.
A few things to remember:
Uniform Reminders
- Black socks!
- Socks must cover the ankle
- Leggings or gym shorts required underneath the pants
- Girls need camisoles NOT sports bra.
- NO jewelry or nail polish.
- Hair must be ready to fit underneath the helmet.
Competition Reminders
- Band jackets MUST be worn when not in uniform
- Never eat in uniform without band jacket.
- No students should be on the bus without a chaperone.
- When we are backfield watching other bands, we give them the utmost respect, applauding their performance, keeping quiet while they are performing, etc.
- Always have a buddy.
- Represent the Marching Spartans with pride
- See Mr. DeMoura with any problems, concerns, or emergencies immediately.
Remember how contagious an attitude is, both positive and negative. Either will go a long way. Think about how much success we can accomplish with a positive attitude from EVERYONE.
OOMPA Parent Meeting
The Oakmont-Overlook Music Parent Association will have a meeting for all parents on Thursday September 21st at 7:00pm in the Oakmont Lecture Hall.
Discussion items include:
- Competitions
- Chaperone info
- Melody tent
- Fundraising updates, etc.
They ask all parents with a student in the marching band to make every effort to attend.

Fundraising
Please remember that we are in the middle of a few fundraisers. Take care of selling the raffle tickets and Yankee Candles while you are at family events, traveling around town, etc.
